Step 1 Find the source of the stench
Check out damp, dark or humid locations in your garage where musty smells typically thrive in. Remove stored items away from the walls and out of the corners of the garage. Throw away any paper or cardboard, fabrics or garbage.These items are the materials that hold mildew spores and keep that smell in the air.
Due to cars and other tools around in your garage, there might be quite a few oil spills in the garage floor. Remove these oil spills with cat litter thoroughly. First, Sprinkle cat litter over any oil spills on the garage floor and let it soak for one to two days. Second, use a broom and brush to sweep it up and dispose of it. If garage floors are made of concrete, perhaps you need to seal your floor with an epoxy coating or garage tiles. Becuase they are extremely porous and soak up odors and liquids.
Step 3 Air It Out
Spend 24 hours on opening the garage doors or any available windows to get some ventilation. With the extra help of a circulating fan, it is more quickly to replace the musty air with fresh air from outside. So run them in the space for at least three to four hours so that the garage can air out rapidly. Additionaly, leave the garage door open every month, which will help to maintain a fresh feeling in your garage.
Step 4 Vinegar Bowls or Sprays
Fill bowls with undiluted white vinegar or pour 1 to 2 cups in a spray bottle because it can moderate the smells. And then place them in each damp, dark or humid corner of the garage that tend to develop a stale odor. Kindly remind that replace the vinegar every two or three days until the odors are eliminated.
Step 5 Maintain Freshness
