5 steps to clean your concrete garage floor

Concrete is the most common option for garage floors because it is very convenient to clean and does not require many tools. Cleaning the garage floor must be in your to-do list, but without regular cleaning and maintenance, it can cause serious clutter and dirt, resulting in poor garage conditions.

Through our discussion, we have summarized five simple steps to clean the concrete garage floor, which also reduces the cumbersome steps and saves you time.

#Step 1

Pick Up Your Garage

Remove all items from the garage floor for easy cleaning and to prevent items from getting dirty or wet.

#Step 2

Remove Oil and Grease Stains

How to Remove Oil and Grease Stains from Concrete Garage Floors?

Oil or grease can often appear in the garage. Cars, lawn mowers and other outdoor power equipment can leak liquids. When using the tool, you may also spill one or two drops of oil. It is best to clean these spills immediately to avoid slipping. To clean fresh spills, sprinkle cat litter or wood chips on oil or grease to absorb the liquid. Leave rubbish or sawdust on the oil for hours or days.

For tough grease oils and greases, especially if you can't remove them with the methods explained above, some alternatives for these difficult spots are oil eater oil eater (can be purchased at Amazon), oil droplet degreaser, kerosene, pour reduction, etc.

#Step 3

Sweep The Floor

Open the garage door for ventilation and use a broom to completely remove kitty litter or sawdust from the garage floor.

#Step 4

Wash The Floor

How to Remove Rust Stains from Concrete Garage Floors?

Rust stains leave marks on the concrete garage floor. Tools like screwdrivers, hammers or nails can leave rust if they stay too long on the garage floor, especially if they get wet. Gardening tools or metal buckets can also leave rust stains. There are four ways to remove these rust stains.

Squeeze the lemon or pour the white vinegar onto the stain and let the liquid stand for about 10 minutes.Rinse with water and repeat if necessary.

Mixing high concentrations of TSP with boiling water can also have a surprising effect on rust. Before scrubbing, be sure to let it stay on the stain for about 15 to 20 minutes. Repeat as necessary.

Oxalic acid is another product that is tougher against rust stains.Apply oxalic acid to the stain and let it stand for 5 minutes before scrubbing. Be sure to rinse well afterward. Repeat as necessary.

For the most difficult to handle rust stains, a mild hydrochloric acid solution will work wonders, but be careful when using it. We recommend starting with a ratio of 10 parts water to 1 part acid.

Then, use a water cannon to thoroughly flush the floor.

#Step 5

Open the doors and windows to ventilate the room and let the floor dry thoroughly.

Tips

For regular cleaning, baking soda and water solutions remove dirt and grease and help keep the garage floor clean. Add a half cup of baking soda to one gallon of warm water and use it as a general purpose cleaner.
